What I Haven't Been Seeing

As I have made clear through out my other blog posts, I go to Awanas on Wednesday nights at my church. What I haven't told you though is that I haven't had the right heart at Awanas almost every Wednesday night since I started back in January. I always thought that Awanas was boring and I sometimes wished that I was with Christan at his youth group that he plays electric guitar at. (The church that he's taking the college internship at.) I complained, so rude, so ungrateful to my parents for bringing me almost every Wednesday night to Awanas that I was missing it. I wasn't seeing what was there. What was there? Love. Friends, faith, fun, joy and laughter, encouragement, happiness, and God's word. You see, no matter how many times I read and memorized (temporarily) scripture, (God's word in the form of a book), I never got it. I was never truly happy there. Last Wednesday though, I did something new. I prayed to God that He would make me enjoy Awanas. I'll tell you, I didn't think I was going to feel any better after I prayed that quiet prayer to God, but I did feel better. Infact, I felt great! Something suddenly changed in me! Suddenly, I didn't want to memorize scripture temporarily, I wanted to study it at home! (Like I should have been doing.) Suddenly, I couldn't wait to get outside and play sports outside! Amazingly, I didn't even want to go home!

It was wonderful! God did answer my prayer! Guess what else? I'm not very good at sports but I like playing them. When we played baseball, I didn't think I would hit the ball, but each time I went up to bat, I hit it high in the air! (Okay it wasn't super high but it was still a little high.)  When I ran to the 1st base, I made it! Believe me, its pretty hard to get to the bases when Joshua is guarding them! Which is why it felt so cool when my foot hit the base literally a second before he tagged me with the ball! Look, I'm not a great athlete, but if I can survive in a game, I feel awesome! So for all of you great athletes out there, particularly at baseball, please don't laugh!

Either way, God answered my prayer and I had a great, awesome time! I look forward to going to Awanas next week!
