Things I'm Learning/Being Reminded of

I was reading through some posts in one of my dear friends' blog and there were several things that stood out to me. One is that God is good, all of the time. Another thing I found in one of her posts is that God wants me to have humility. Now the one that really stood out to me was this, even if we're not very close in our walk with the Lord at times, that doesn't necessarily mean that God is ashamed of us. (I've re-phrased what her post said.) That may not be the exact point she was trying to get across in her post but I think that's what God wanted me to hear. I just wanted to share these things with you all. And really, y'all should check out some of the blogs I have listed on here. There's some very good stuff to read. :)

A New Year

Happy (late) New Year everyone! I miss Christmas, but I'm glad for the new year!

I just wanted to add a reminder to this new year, let's remember to pray for others. I am already hearing about sad things that others are going through. I know a lot of us have new year's resolutions, including myself, but why don't we try to maybe make one of our resolutions to pray more. There are so many who are going through hard times -outwardly and inwardly. Things may be going on in a friend's life that we don't even know about. But there are also other adults, teens, children, and even babies all around the world who need our prayers. Its good to remember to pray for people -unfortunately I don't always remember all the things I need to pray for. Life can get so busy that we just forget. I feel like I forget a lot.

Also, its good to remember to thank God for all his many blessings. Do you like bright, sunny days with a soft breeze or cloudy, rainy days that make you feel extra cozy at home? Do you feel good after you've passed a science or math test? Do you enjoy relaxing sleep or reading a good book? What about the special time you have with your family and friends? Are you thankful that you live in a country where you (most likely) don't have to worry about getting arrested or put to death for going to church or reading the Bible? Then let's thank God for those things or any other things that you're thankful for! -Believe me, while I write this its a reminder for me also. I don't thank the Lord enough and I should express my thankfulness to him more!

Let's remember to pray for others and be thankful unto the Lord! Have a great day! :)

Molly

I hope you all had a great Christmas! I'm really looking forward to the new year as well as new year's eve! Last year on new year's eve, Elizabeth and I went to a new year's eve party with our youth group at one of our youth group leaders houses and we hopefully are going to do that again! :)

About my little dog Molly....she's not doing very well. Here's the thing December 19th-December 21st, she was at the vets taking fluids, and iv, and the vets kept taking her blood trying to figure out what was wrong with her. About a week or two before, we had brought her to the vet because she was sick when we came back home after Thanksgiving. They said she had lost a fifth of her body weight. So while she was at the vets Dec. 19th-Dec. 21st, she lost another pound while she was on fluids which is not good. From looking at Molly's blood tests they weren't positive but said that she most likely has cancer and that the best thing we could do for her would be to put her down. Daddy, brought Molly home Thursday, Dec. 22nd. We began to prepare for the worst.

Although we knew she most likely had cancer and that we couldn't do much, we wanted to "double check" that she actually had cancer. So Dad and Mom brought her to another vets office on (I believe it was Friday) Dec. 23rd. The vet took a lot of time with Mom and Dad (Dad had already heard from a customer of his that this was a really good vet office). The news was very sad though. The vet took some pictures of what was going on inside of Molly. There were tumors growing inside her intestines (I think). They said that to get those intestines out they'd have to operate on her immediately. If they operated on her and found that the tumors were in a certain area of the intestines, they could take those out but her chance of recovery (since she was already very weak) would be slim. If the tumors were in all her intestines they'd have to put her down because to take all those intestines out just wouldn't work because her body would need those intestines. Molly also has a breathing problem in her lungs.

We realized that we would have to put her down, perhaps the morning of Christmas eve. But as the rest of Dec. 23rd went on, we realized that Molly wasn't ready to die and she wasn't suffering at that point. We decided to not put her down on De. 24th and she actually seemed more herself on Christmas eve. She seemed to have a little burst of energy. :) After Christmas eve though, she has pretty much been getting weaker and hasn't been eating/drinking hardly anything so we've had to feed her with a dropper and give her chicken broth or wet baby food.

Molly is holding on by a thread. She sleeps almost all day long. We think the only thing that is keeping her going is that she loves us and wants to be with us, particularly me. A dog chooses which person they like the most and for Molly, she kind of chose me. As weak as she is, she'll still try to follow me around sometimes.

We don't want to be the ones that have to end her life, so we've been praying that the Lord will heal her or that he will take her peacefully in her sleep. If she does pass away, I also don't want us to put her down because I would rather her pass away in our home. If she starts to really suffer though, we may have to put her down.

It makes me sad because she is so young, she's just three years old. But God has been (I believe) a huge comfort to me. I love Molly very dearly, she is is really something and I think my favorite pet. We took her in after my other favorite dog, Baxley passed away when he was hit by a car (he was only about two I think.) But I think that after what happened to Baxley and to my little cat Tommy, I'm a little stronger. Molly has been such a good friend to me, and I don't want her to pass away, but I believe God has been giving me peace and comfort. It must be very hard for people who have family members that have cancer or family members who have passed away from cancer. We should pray for them too. They need to feel God's love and comfort.

Thank you y'all for all your prayers too. :)

Merry Christmas!

Although it is Christmas Eve it will soon be Christmas day! Merry Christmas to you all! Although the gifts and the Christmas dinner (or brunch), the time with friends and family, and the plays and music are so much fun, lets remember that Jesus is the reason for the season. God bless you all!

                                              Merry Christmas!!!

Christmas Shopping and the True Meaning of Christmas

Today my mom, Grandma, sisters and I went Christmas shopping together. We had a nice time and we went to quite a few different stores. One store I was looking forward to in particular was "Collector's Corner". I only get to go there about once a year so I was looking forward to that! Unfortunately, the prices on many of the things there were (in my opinion) pretty high so I only bought one little thing. But its the little things that matter right? Besides, it was nice just looking too. :)

During this time of year, many people (including myself) tend to get so wrapped up in our busy schedules, the Christmas gifts we "need" to buy, and all the other fun things like holiday movies, holiday treats, etc., etc.
But then, between all of those things, we sometimes don't think about Christ the most or it is harder to. For me, it is easy to let all sorts of other things fill up my head, whether they be exciting, sad, or unpleasant things. But I notice during this season that it is hard for me to think of Christ the most. I just want to keep thinking about how Christmas is now next Sunday, that I'm going to bake cookies at my grandparents house tomorrow, how fun it will be to wrap the gifts I have for my family, what it will be like when my uncle comes in town for Christmas, it goes on and on. And by getting so wrapped up in all of these plans and hustle bustle, it becomes difficult for me to have my main concentration on Jesus Christ. It really is difficult for me! Sadly, within the next hour I may forget again that I should concentrate on Christ the most during this season.

Here's the thing. The way I see it, to me the most exciting part I look forward to is the fun during the Christmas season and the (I hope this doesn't sound selfish) the gifts I receive under the tree, the special Christmas breakfast, my family's happy faces when they open the gifts I give to them, etc!, etc!, etc! And then (for me) the celebration of Jesus Christ's birth just sort of is like an "extra" thing that adds on to the excitement of the Christmas season. When it should be the first. I feel like I should be so focused on thinking of Christ during this season that all the gifts and everything else on Christmas day should perhaps not be as exciting as they are to me. I mean its understandable to be excited about those things, but I think I am more excited about the earthly things than I am about the true meaning of Christmas. That's not very good. I think we all feel that way at times, but how do I change it? I can pray, but I'm afraid I just won't feel as different as I want to feel. I'm afraid I won't have enough faith. Prayers would be much appreciated. I believe I am saved, I think that the problem here lies in my relationship with God.

                                                       Prayer Requests:

~Two girls' (that I have not met) mother passed away from a heart attack recently. I'm sure this Christmas is probably going to be harder for them with the loss of their dear mother.

~Prayers for salvation for this boy and his family (that is if they're not saved). (The boy goes to my youth group.) Also, prayers that my youth group (including myself) will include him more.

~ My little dog, Molly, is in sleeping at the vet's tonight and is being given fluids since she lost over a fifth of her body weight. She has been sick since we came home from Thanksgiving and we couldn't get her to eat or drink hardly anything. The vets may operate on her tomorrow to try and figure out what is wrong with her. I am very worried about her. I do not want her to die, I love her so much.

Happy Thanksgiving! /Our Trip

                HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Psalm 95:2
"Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song."

I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

This year, my family, my future sister-in-law, Rose and I traveled to Blacksburg, Virginia to spend Thanksgiving with my Grandpa and my Step Grandma. We had a good Thanksgiving and my Grandma especially worked hard to try and make us feel comfortable and welcome. She made a lovely Thanksgiving dinner, as well as many other meals and she showed so much hospitality. It was good to see my Grandpa and my Grandma but I especially enjoyed getting to know my Step Grandma more. I could really tell that she loved us and wanted us to feel welcome at their new house and I really enjoyed playing her piano, not only because it had a beautiful, clear sound (not to mention I can't help but play if there's a piano), but I really liked how much she enjoyed hearing me play. :) My grandpa is kind of rough, so at times the trip wasn't very pleasant, but I think they were glad that we came and I feel like my respect and love for my Step Grandma has grown more and I miss her.

I really enjoyed the beautiful scenery that we saw on our way back home. The mountains and scenery in Virginia and West Virginia were beautiful. It was also fun driving through downtown Cincinatti, Ohio at night. The shop/resturaunt lights were really cool and there was even a couple horse drawn carriages, one looked liked how Cinderella's might have looked! There was a huge Christmas tree and music too. For my first time going to Cincinatti, it was pretty cool at night with all the lights!

On our way to Blacksburg, Virgina, we also stopped to look at a quaint, little town called Winston/Salem, North Carolina. We sat down in the old church and we went to the town bakery. We bought a few things in the bakery, including vanilla extract and chocolate extract! Of all the places we went to, Kentucky was probably my favorite state. We went to the Creation Museum, which was very, very cool! I'd definetly reccomend it for homeschoolers and public schoolers. We learned a lot and we had a great time. We drove around Lexington, Kentucky to look at horse farms. Unfortunately, I could barely keep my eyes open because I was so tired. So I slept through most of it.We also went to the Kentucky Derby Horse Park at night. They had many lights, it was almost like a miniature Calaway Gardens! Abigail got to ride a camel and there was a petting zoo. The goats were my favorite! -I really would like to have goats! I think my favorite part about the trip though was the rolling hills of Kentucky. The Kentucky scenery with the hills and the farms were just so beautiful. I absolutely loved it.

We did pass through a couple more states such as South Carolina and Tennessee but we were just on the highway while passing through those states. The trip was very nice. We all became a little cranky at times (especially me, unfortuanely) but we did have a good time and God is so good. :)

I'm thankful for my God and my family and friends. I am thankful for God's free gift of salvation that we can receive because of Jesus Christ.

How was your Thanksgiving?
Did you travel? or did you celebrate Thanksgiving at your home sweet home?
What are you most thankful for?

Looking forward to Christmas!!!

Love, Anne

His Comfort

About two weeks ago, one of my darling cats passed away. His name was Tommy and I frequently liked to call him "my child", he was still pretty small seeing that he was only about six months old when he passed away and it just seems like I could tell that he loved me perhaps as much as I loved him. His passing happened very unexpectedly, just like it had to one of my very dear dog's a couple years ago.

Daddy, Elizabeth, Abigail, and I were coming home from Awana/youth group and we had had a good night at church, as we usually do. But right before we pulled into our driveway, we saw something on the road. At first, I thought it was an opossum, but then to my terror, I realized the horrible truth, it was my baby cat, lying dead on the road. I immediately began balling, crying out, "No! No! Not again! No! No!" Daddy pulled into the driveway a little and stopped. He began rubbing my back, saying gently, "I'm sorry Sarah", as I crunched over crying very hard. "No, not my Tommy! No!" I know it sounds dramatic and perhaps silly, but my heart just goes out to animals. When I love an animal deeply, I love it with all my heart.

.....A couple years ago, my darling "shining star" Yorkie, Baxley was also hit by a car and killed. I just can't really explain how much I loved that little dog. He was just always there for me and he really was like my best friend. When Baxley was killed by a car, I was in disbelief. I was actually angry at God. I remember my parents trying to comfort me on our back porch, but I was so shocked, so deeply sad that I became angry at God and a little hysterical. I cried out to God things like, "Why did you let this happen?! Why did you let him die?!" I did not ask the Lord these questions respectfully, I asked him angrily and that was wrong. Because of my being upset at God, I think it was harder for me to receive His comfort that He offers.

......So as we drove in the car, up our driveway, after just finding out that my darling cat, Tommy was dead, through my tears and my sobs I also said, "God loves me." "I know God loves me, I know God loves me. God didn't want this to happen; I know God loves me."

I've had to pray a few times for God to help me not to be angry at Him. It is so easy to blame God when we face troubles. But God has given me extraordinary comfort, and I believe He wanted me to say that night "I know God loves me." I do hope you know how much God loves you.

I don't know if this was a test from God or the Enemy, or if it was no test at all. But what I do know is that I've learned from it. Even when I feel sad telling about what happened to my little cat, I also feel a sense of spiritual strength when I remember how I responded to God, and how He responded to me with His never ending comfort.
