I hope you all had a great Christmas! I'm really looking forward to the new year as well as new year's eve! Last year on new year's eve, Elizabeth and I went to a new year's eve party with our youth group at one of our youth group leaders houses and we hopefully are going to do that again! :)
About my little dog Molly....she's not doing very well. Here's the thing December 19th-December 21st, she was at the vets taking fluids, and iv, and the vets kept taking her blood trying to figure out what was wrong with her. About a week or two before, we had brought her to the vet because she was sick when we came back home after Thanksgiving. They said she had lost a fifth of her body weight. So while she was at the vets Dec. 19th-Dec. 21st, she lost another pound while she was on fluids which is not good. From looking at Molly's blood tests they weren't positive but said that she most likely has cancer and that the best thing we could do for her would be to put her down. Daddy, brought Molly home Thursday, Dec. 22nd. We began to prepare for the worst.
Although we knew she most likely had cancer and that we couldn't do much, we wanted to "double check" that she actually had cancer. So Dad and Mom brought her to another vets office on (I believe it was Friday) Dec. 23rd. The vet took a lot of time with Mom and Dad (Dad had already heard from a customer of his that this was a really good vet office). The news was very sad though. The vet took some pictures of what was going on inside of Molly. There were tumors growing inside her intestines (I think). They said that to get those intestines out they'd have to operate on her immediately. If they operated on her and found that the tumors were in a certain area of the intestines, they could take those out but her chance of recovery (since she was already very weak) would be slim. If the tumors were in all her intestines they'd have to put her down because to take all those intestines out just wouldn't work because her body would need those intestines. Molly also has a breathing problem in her lungs.
We realized that we would have to put her down, perhaps the morning of Christmas eve. But as the rest of Dec. 23rd went on, we realized that Molly wasn't ready to die and she wasn't suffering at that point. We decided to not put her down on De. 24th and she actually seemed more herself on Christmas eve. She seemed to have a little burst of energy. :) After Christmas eve though, she has pretty much been getting weaker and hasn't been eating/drinking hardly anything so we've had to feed her with a dropper and give her chicken broth or wet baby food.
Molly is holding on by a thread. She sleeps almost all day long. We think the only thing that is keeping her going is that she loves us and wants to be with us, particularly me. A dog chooses which person they like the most and for Molly, she kind of chose me. As weak as she is, she'll still try to follow me around sometimes.
We don't want to be the ones that have to end her life, so we've been praying that the Lord will heal her or that he will take her peacefully in her sleep. If she does pass away, I also don't want us to put her down because I would rather her pass away in our home. If she starts to really suffer though, we may have to put her down.
It makes me sad because she is so young, she's just three years old. But God has been (I believe) a huge comfort to me. I love Molly very dearly, she is is really something and I think my favorite pet. We took her in after my other favorite dog, Baxley passed away when he was hit by a car (he was only about two I think.) But I think that after what happened to Baxley and to my little cat Tommy, I'm a little stronger. Molly has been such a good friend to me, and I don't want her to pass away, but I believe God has been giving me peace and comfort. It must be very hard for people who have family members that have cancer or family members who have passed away from cancer. We should pray for them too. They need to feel God's love and comfort.
Thank you y'all for all your prayers too. :)
