The Missions Trip to La Grange, Wyoming

July 9th, I woke up at the crack of dawn to go on a missions trip to La Grange, Wyoming with my church youth group. I came back home on July 17th, late in the night. It was not only the first missions trip that I'd ever gone to, but a missions trip I will never forget.

Two of our youth group leaders, Uncle Bill and Aunt Karen and two of our youth group helpers, Adam and Florence chaperoned us on this trip. The following friends from youth group came with my sister Elizabeth and I on the missions trip: Micah, Emily and Caleb, Kristine and Megan, Renee, Tori and Elizabeth, and Joshua and Jerod. (For security reasons, I've decided not to mention last names.)

So, it was a 30 hour drive to La Grange, Wyoming. The first night we camped at a KOA near St. Louis and arrived in Wyoming very late the second night.
We were there to help work at the Frontier School of the Bible, the college in La Grange.
The guys and girls each slept in the girl's and the guy's dorms.

We woke up at 6:30 each morning, started the day by filling out a chapter in our devotion books, entitled, "Spiritual Warfare", got dressed and ate breakfast in the school cafeteria at 7:30 a.m. Then we'd go off to work!

We were pretty much renovating one of the guy's dorms, priming and painting, and some of the men there were working on the electricity, putting up sheet rock, etc. We helped with anything else that needed to be done.

At 12:30, we'd eat lunch in the cafeteria and then get back to work. At 4:30, we'd stop working for the day and go and get washed up for dinner, which was at 5:30.

We would do something fun in the evening after dinner and around 9 p.m., we'd all gather and have devotions. Then usually, some of us would play in the "game room" and go to bed at 11:00.

Monday, July 11th, Pastor Carl flew in, and Tuesday, July 12th, my dad and Mr. Andy flew in to help at the Frontier School of the Bible too.

I made some new friends there and I just loved the little town of La Grange. It was a very memorable trip and I never wanted to leave. There were times of laughter and times when I shed a few tears, there were times when I would question if I ever was going to get a job done and times when I felt very confident in my work. But that's how it is on missions trips I suppose.

I really think there was some spiritual growth in my life during the trip and I just loved every part of it- even the little sad parts I can be thankful for. I am just so thankful that I was able to go on this trip with my sister, my dad, and so many of my church friends. I look forward to the trip back next summer and to when I God~willing can start college at the Frontier School of the Bible. :)

A couple highlights from the trip:

~ On Monday, there was a really cool looking tornado, forming right over La Grange! Yikes! it was an awesome storm though.

~ * Monday afternoon, Emily did my make up and I had a very fun time playing volleyball with some new friends and some friends from my youth group. After volleyball my friends from youth group and I went over to the town's playground and spun around on the merry-go-round. lol

~ Tuesday, I got to help haul and load tons of tree branches (which I enjoy doing), and ride on the tail gate of a new friend's truck. (Daddy wasn't too happy about that.)

~ * Tuesday afternoon, we went to a lake, it was very cold but I finally got used to it when I had a mud fight with Tori and our new friend, Caleb.

~ * Wednesday afternoon, we visited the Seymour's, ate delicious brownies/ice cream and listened to Mr. Seymour share his testimony with us.

~ Thursday afternoon, we went to " Lone Tree Canyon". It was absolutely beautiful!

~ Friday afternoon, we went to " Fort Laramie ".

~ The devotion time we had in the evenings was very, very nice.

It was a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful missions trip!
