Progressive Dinner

Last Saturday night, our Awana Trek and Journey group at church had what they call a Progressive Dinner. Elizabeth and I went to it last year and this year, we were excited to be attending it again! Only this time, our house would be serving food too, we would be hosting the desert house. It was all very exciting! For those who don't know, a progressive dinner is when you go from one house to another, eating an appetizer at the first house, a salad at the second, the main course at the third, and dessert at the fourth house. It is all very fun!

Around 5:45 in the afternoon, all of the Trek and Journey kids, (including Elizabeth and I of course) piled into the two church vans and started heading out to the first house, the appetizer house. Elizabeth's and my friends, the Burdett's were hosting the appetizer house this year. There were many good things to eat, pigs n' a blanket, crackers and cheese, chopped fruits, little sausage balls, etc., and after everyone had pretty much finished eating, Mr. Burdett lead us in a Bible study and then we all piled up into the church vans again and drove off to the next house.

We went to the Myatt's house (some more of our friends) for salad. Along with salad, they also served jello-yum! I actually got salad, but I'm sure that the jello was just as good. :) After everyone had eaten their jello or salad, we drove off to our friends, the McKibben's house, for the main course! On the way, Emily, Autumn, and I shared funny stories about us and our siblings or when we were younger.

The McKibben's served a delicious meal of lasagna and toasted bread. The tables were set of so nicely! There was a flower bouquet on every little table and the decorations were very, very pretty! The time of fellowship I had with my friends was very pleasant. :)

We all went to the last house, our house, which was the desert house. Mom, Elizabeth, and I had baked brownies, sugar and chocolate chip cookies, apple pies, gingerbread, chocolate cake, and one other thing that I can't remember. We also bought m&m's and a keylime pie.  After everyone had eaten a bit of dessert, Daddy led everyone in a Bible study about worship. After that, most of everyone loaded back into the church vans and left to go back to the church. I have to admit, I felt a bit sad when I held the door open and said good-bye to our friends. I mean, it wasn't like I wasn't going to see them again. Infact, the next day was Sunday so I'd see them all again in the morning, but I guess it was just like at the New Year's Eve Party, I knew that I'd have to wait a whole nother year before there would be another Progressive dinner or another New Year's Eve Party. It just makes me feel kind of sad. I don't really know why, but it does. The good thing though, is that I get to see my friends twice a week, every Sunday and Wednesday, and while I'm with them I get to learn more about God and His Word. What a blessing it is to have such WONDERFUL friends and to go to such a WONDERFUL church. :) :) :)

Note: I would just like to thank you Mom and Dad for all of the effort you put in to making things as nice as you possibly could for Elizabeth and I, and our friends. :) You both worked so hard, but I have to admit, Mom you worked the hardest out of all of Dad, Elizabeth, Abigail, and I. So from me to you, I'd like to say "Thank you."
I'd also like to thank the Burdett's, the Myatt's, and the McKibben's for all of the yummy food and hard work ya'll did, and I'd like to thank Uncle Bill and Mr. Will for driving us form house to house and for putting up with how loud we all were! lol! :D Lastly, I'd like to thank all of my friends, (everyone) for being my friends. I can't explain how blessed I feel to know all you. My mom could tell you, that I've had a hard time making friends in the past, but thank goodness that's the past, and glory to God that that's not true anymore! I almost forgot, thank you God for all your many blessings, like my family and my friends.
